In short
Its name derives from the reservoir and the Mitchinamecus River that crosses its territory. This toponym, which appears in the official documentation in 1911, is of Cree origin and would mean big trout.
During your hikes, you can take advantage of the opportunity to pick wild berries (blueberries, small strawberries and raspberries) that grow all over the territory.
A canoe-camping circuit has been set up in the zec. Additional wilderness campsites are located along the route. There are several starting points and segments for all levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced). Boat rental and shuttle service can be provided upon request.
